Key Terminology

General 

Conversion courses- these can be LLM (conversion courses), PGDLs (Postgraduate Diplomas in law) or MA (conversion courses)- often you apply to these in your final year at University- make sure that any LLM Courses and MA's specifically say they are conversion courses

Watson and Glaser/psychometric testing- these are tests most firms and chambers require people to pass or achieve  a specific score in order to progress in their application. Normally, the tests test critical thinking

SQE 1+2- these are the exams you need to pass to get closer to qualification- these are taken after you have done the conversion course, can be self-taught or taught through institutions and are split into two parts

Qualifying work experience- you need two years of work experience (mostly achieved through training contracts) to qualify
